Press On Nails
Should I use sticky tabs or nail glue?
Sticky tabs are a convenient option for shorter wear time. If you are a press-on girlie who likes to change your nails more often, sticky tabs may be a better option. Nail glue generally provides a longer-lasting hold. The nails can be re-used with both methods, however sticky tabs will be a bit easier to remove from the nail, where as glue may require a little more time to buff off.
How do I apply my press-on nails?
The application process is the same for sticky tabs and glue. Pick out the right nails for each hand and place them on your table. Avoid applying hand cream or cuticle oil beforehand. Start with clean, dry nails. Gently push back your cuticles with the wooden cuticle stick. Buff the nails slightly with the provided nail file. Wipe the nails with the alcohol wipe. You are now ready to apply your nails. These simple steps will set you up for success and maximize the wear time for your nails.
How do I choose the right nail size?
One of the reasons we picked the manufacture that we did is because we wanted to offer our customers enough sizes for all nail shapes, especially if you have even slightly larger or smaller nails than the average. Choose a nail that fits comfortably from side to side without overlapping your skin. If you are in-between sizes, it is best to pick a larger size and file or trim the edges.
How do I apply the tabs?
Once the nails are prepped, remove the thin film that covers the tabs. Pick the tab that fits your nail the best and pull the tab off the bottom sheet via the top lip. Place the sticky side down on the nail. Make sure the tab is pressed down all around the nail. Peel off the top plastic covering of the tab. If you are having issues peeling the top layer, pull down the sticky tab underneath with the help of your other hand to begin the separation process and the top film will come off easy. This happens mostly when the sticky tab is longer than the nail. Do not get nails wet for at least an hour after application.
How do I apply the glue?
Once the nails are prepped, add a drop of glue directly to the nailbed, some people also find success adding some glue to the back of the press on nail also. After a bit of experience you will get to know the proper amount of glue to place. If you don’t place enough the nail won’t stick if you place too much it will leak out once the nail is pressed over. Once the glue is put on the nail, place the nail at a 45 degree angle at the cuticle and push the nail down. This will stop any air bubbles from appearing. Hold the nail in place for at least 30 seconds. There is no need to press too hard, let the nail and glue bond with the right amount of tension. Do not get nails wet for at least an hour after application.
Do I need a UV or LED lamp?
No lamp is needed when applying your press-on nails with sticky tabs or regular nail glue.
How long will my nails stay on?
Wear time varies depending on your preparation, nail fit, adhesive, and daily activities. A well-fitting nail and careful application help create a secure hold. Many people can make their nails last up to two weeks with the proper application some even longer.
Can I reuse my press-on nails?
Yes you can! Just keep this in mind when removing the press on nails, be patient and take your time to remove them so no damage comes to the nails. After removal, wash and dry them and keep them in a dry secure space until you are ready to use them again. If you are using glue you can purchase a small e-file to grind off the remaining glue, or use a buffer to buff the glue off.
How do I remove my press-on nails?
Soak your nails in warm water with some soap and cuticle oil. Break the seal around your nails with the cuticle remover and soak again. Add additional cuticle oil (or any other oil will work as well) around the nail and under the nail. For glue, you can also use bond remover to assist. With sticky tabs, some people find that once the nails have soaked and the bond has been released with a cuticle stick, that an alcohol wipe will help release the tab. Additional cuticle oil will also help. To keep your nails healthy, do not force the nails off EVER. Always be patient and take your time. Some people soak for 5 minutes others for 10, it all depends on how dry your nail beds are and how strong the bonds are. It is not suggested to remove your nails within a few days of applications, always wait at least a week before removal.
How can I help my manicure last?
Choose the correct sizes, prepare your nails carefully. Avoid using your nails to open packaging, lift tabs, or pry objects. These nails are not tools! Wear gloves when doing dishes or using cleaning solvents.
Paint By Number
Do I need experience
Absolutely Not! All you need is the desire to give something new a try and lots of patience. Many of our designs feature rich detail and while they are more suited for intermediate/advanced painters, if you are a beginner it won’t take you long to get there. By the time you are halfway through your first piece, you’ll be well on your way to painting like a pro!
Tips on getting started
Get set up in a well lit area. Fill up a cup with water to clean your brushes between colors. Pick the best size brush for the area you are painting. Don’t over saturate your brush but make sure you put enough paint to get a seamless stroke. You will get the hang of it!
Painting Order
There is no right or wrong answer here, you will find your best approach as you begin to work through your project. Don’t be afraid to experiment until you find your perfect workflow. Here are some suggestions:
- Experiment with painting from lightest to darkest colors. This allows you to gain a deeper understanding of color composition and their interplay. In many cases the lighter colors take a couple of coats so many people prefer to begin with them.
- For larger canvasses you could start from the middle and work your way out to the edges.
- Some people start with color No.1 and then move to No.2 until they reach the last color.
What if I make a mistake
Don’t worry at all if you make a mistake. The great thing about acrylics is that you can paint over them! Everybody has a different painting style and technique which means that every canvas will come out a little different. It is okay to take a little creative expression if you go over a line. There is no perfection in this craft!
The paint is so thick
If you feel that your paint is too thick, it’s easy to fix! Just add a few drops of water or acrylic thinning medium (found very affordably on Amazon). Beware, you can always add more but can’t add less so just add a few drops at a time. It is easy to mix the paint with a toothpick or don’t be afraid to get your brush in there!
The numbers don’t get covered with the paint
Due to less pigment in the paint, it is completely normal for lighter or neon colors to show the numbers below. Do not fret! We suggest you load up your brush with paint and dab the color over the numbers first, then once dried just paint over the area. Some people also dab a little bit of white-out over the number to cover it up. Note that this happens with all acrylic paints, between all brands and all kits, there are always some colors that will have less coverage.
Should I paint the edges of the canvas for my frame?
If you are framing your canvas it can look a bit more finished to paint the edges. Many people feel that the canvas looks more complete with the edges painted. Not all kits will have enough paint to complete this task. It is recommended that you purchase a small container of black acrylic paint. It isn’t expensive and you can use it for more than one canvas.
What material is your paint
Our paint is non-toxic, eco-friendly acrylic paint with vibrant colors. It dries quickly and leaves a beautiful finish.
How long does it take to complete a kit?
Depending on the size a kit can take anywhere between 6-14 hours to complete. We recommend taking your time, there is no deadline and enjoying the process is the best part!
